Derivatives derive their value from an underlying asset. To make the most of arbitrage strategies
between the cash and the derivatives market it is important to have a sound understanding of the specifics of different underlying markets. In this term we will make you familiar with the five most important ones and their interdependencies with derivatives.

Portfolio theory is the basis of modern securities management. In essence it means that an investor can reduce portfolio risk simply by holding combinations of instruments that are not perfectly positively correlated. However, to use portfolio theory properly in practice we have to have a look at the math behind. So after term 2 you will at least be able to calculate covariance and correlation of a given portfolio und understand what the „Portfolio Selection Model" developed by H. M. Markowitz is all about.

In term 03 we will lay the foundation for successfull derivatives trading. You will learn something

Effects of these characteristics are worth taking a look at. Especially through the leverage effect, trading derivative instruments offers great profit potential, but also carries major exposure to risk.

In Term 04 we will have a closer look at symmetric derivatives. A term that can easily be understood when looking at the profit loss charts. Although we will provide some interesting insights in to forwards and swaps our main focus will be on future trading. We will look beyond the pure hedging and speculative positions of these instruments and will also stress their importance as insurance policy for business beyond the finance industry.

In the next two terms we focus on options. All forms of options are conditional forward transactions, that means that in contrast to futures we talk about rights not obligations on the buyer`s side. An additional contract component that offers a lot of opportunities for complex trading strategies. In a first step it is very important to assimilate the four basic positions right from the beginning. For somebody without prior knowledge in options a careful study of term 5 is an absolute necessity before continuing with term 06.

Based on the knowledge of the previous term we are ready to get to business in term 06. You will learn how to get along with the complexity of combined option strategies for your market expectations. You will also be able to rebuild classic structured products with the respective components of derivatives and underlyings. Once you have successfully completed term 06 you play in the Champions League of options trading.

The content of Term 07 is a requirement by German and UK authorities, in order to be approved for the respective markets. You will find out that it is not the worst to know what governments are doing to prevent us from the next financial crises. Although international regulatory requirements were in many aspects harmonized every country has in principle still its own set of rules. We will therefore have a separate look at continental Europe, the US and the UK.

Paul holds a MSc in Banking and Finance from the University of London. He has over 30 years of experience of working and teaching in the financial markets and derivatives industry. Paul joined the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) in 1988, spending several years on the exchange trading floor before transferring to the exchange's Business Development Department.
At the exchange, Paul worked in the fields of broker relations, product research and development, marketing, market automation and education. Paul was Head of Education at the exchange, before leaving in 1998 to pursue a freelance career in derivatives and financial markets training.

Gerhard has worked for almost 20 years in several training-related positions at Deutsche Börse AG/Eurex. From 2009-2017 he was the Head of the Capital Markets Academy – the company's own qualification department for market participants and external clients. During this time he was responsible for several digitalization projects and successfully implemented interactive online training tools for traders.
He initiated the accreditation of the Certified Derivatives Trader with the FSA thus making it an internationally accepted benchmark qualification in derivatives trading. He was also a Member of the board of examiners for traders of the electronic trading system Xetra. Gerhard holds a postgraduate degree in Capital Markets and Portfolio Management by the European Business School, Oestrich Winkel and a M.A. degree in Educational Psychology, American Studies and German Philology. It could take as short as a couple of months or as long as you need. The Nanodiploma™ is a self-learning program which include 110 courses and 15 projects over 9 terms.
The program will start in January 2019 and new members can join in at anytime. There is no end date.
If you go for the package with a mastermind elite group access, then you can drop a message in the chat room at anytime. Otherwise, you can always raise your question while you attend to the webinars, and/ or via email.
A project in our Nanodiploma™ is a type of practical homework our instructors set up to test your understanding at the end of each term. It will be formally assessed, and you will get your own private, personal feedback from your mentor.
Once you sign up and we unlock the Nanodiploma™ access for you, there is a project answer editor in the back end in which you will submit your project and get feedback directly. If you have uncertainty about the project description, you can also raise your question there before the final submission.
Yes, once you accomplished our Nanodiploma™, you need to enrol to the final exam at Deutsche Börse within 3 months. Please note that attending the final exam is not compulsory.
Only participants who have completed the Certified Derivatives Trader Nanidiploma™ are allowed to take the final exam "Certified Derivatives Trader". Tradimo will help you with the registration. The exam fee costs 238 Euros, payable to Deutsche Börse.
The exam is conducted electronically. It includes true/false and multiple choice questions. Participants are given 3 hours to answer 150 questions which are randomly picked out from a question pool of approx. 900 questions. The pass mark is 75 percent.
It depends on the exam location you choose. In general for Tradimo students, there should be at least one every three months.
